If you have lived in outer space for the past couple of year’s you may not have heard about the iPod craze or in fact of the iPod Nano itself. So I’ll start from scratch

The iPod has been the king of portable media player for a long time now. They have managed to create an iPod for every occasion. Once of the latest iPods is the third generation iPod nano. One of the main reasons for market domination for the iPod is it became a fashion accessory and also it was one of the first mp3 players to give large 30gb storage. The iPod as grown from strength to strength with technologically advances being in the forefront like the main controls on the iPod being one dial.

The main features of the new iPod Nano are as follows.

The only criticisms i would have of the iPod Nano is that they dont support firewire synchronization. As firewire is a major playing in the connection world. Alot of the Third party older nano accessorise dont work with this new iPod nano. The obvious comes to mind i.e the size difference but unknown is alot of the third party connectors wont work with this new model, this should change over time.

On the plus side website Ars Technica has tested the new iPod nano to the extreme. Like dropping it from a speeding car several times, sitting on the iPod 4 gb nano. Dropping it from a height of 4 feet onto concrete. Though the screen was heavily damaged the nano still played. It finally took a drop of 40 feet onto concrete to damage the iPod 4 gb nano beyond playability.

On launch of the new iPod 4 gb Nano there was an overwhelming response to it. It sold 1 million units in only 17 days. This is an incredible turn around for a company that was once struggling to keep its head above water.

The moral of this story is that I would definitely recommend buying an iPod 4 gb nano as it is a very versatile portable media player. It has everything you need and also it’s a perfect size for all occasions.
